An automotive parts supplier sought MecanoLav’s expertise for the design and supply of a steering column shaft washing machine.
The project aimed to achieve a cleaning cycle time of 12 seconds per part while ensuring precision across a range of parts measuring from 120 to 420 mm. Another goal was to facilitate the machine’s integration into a robotic cell, thereby enabling seamless process automation.
The machine cleans three parts simultaneously, at a rate of 12 seconds per part.
Parts are loaded and unloaded during non-productive time by a robot using a 3-position rotary table that facilitates access.
The machine is equipped with positioning pallets that can accommodate a wide range of part sizes (120 to 420 mm in height).
The work chamber is optimized for precise cleaning of parts, ensuring that both internal and external surfaces are cleaned as close as possible to the axes.
The machine is compact and can be easily integrated into a robotic cell (3,400 mm x 1,600 mm).
In addition, the robot gripper has unobstructed access to the loading and unloading stations.
